Gearing up for season

Bow Street FC are gearing up for the forthcoming season having made a number of key appointments to drive forward its senior teams. Llyr Hughes steps up into the first team manager’s role to lead the Club’s senior side in the new Tier 3 Ardal League while former 1^st Team Manager Huw Bates returns to the fold to lead the Club’s reserve team in the new national reserves league, supported by the Club’s head of Youth Development, Amlyn Ifans. Hughes has moved quickly to bring in experienced campaigner Warren Sedgewick to assist him and brings to bear previous managerial experience at Barmouth FC and a successful playing career including a spell at Aberystwyth Town.

Newly appointed 1^st Team boss Llyr Hughes added – ‘ I am delighted to be appointed having enjoyed the last few seasons playing under Barry Williams who did a great job with a local group of players, winning the Spar Mid Wales League Cup in 2018, I am under no illusion that these are big shoes to fill but I am excited to be leading this prestigious Club into the new Tier 3 league after such a long time with no football and thrilled that Sedge is on board too. Everybody is eager to get back playing and visit new grounds – the boys can’t wait. I am pleased that Huw and Amlyn have also been appointed which provides a real pathway for our young players to progress within the club. Reserve Team Gaffer Huw Bates added – ‘ It’s great to be back having spent some time away but there’s no doubt that Bow Street FC has continued to invest in its infrastructure and club personnel so the foundations here are solid – my aim is to maximise the talent and potential that’s coming through from our junior and youth set ups, mixed with some experienced old heads and develop our future senior players. The new Tier 3 Reserve league looks interesting and with Amlyn’s support and coaching credentials I think we can do wellThe Club is also delighted that its Chairman Wyn Lewis was recently duly elected to represent the Central Wales Area on the FAW Council for the next 2 years, joining Graham Evans and Will Lloyd Williams from the region. Wyn added ‘ It is a great honour to be elected to represent clubs at all levels within the area, particularly grass roots clubs who are the lifeblood of football in Central Wales and I look forward to adding to the voice of the region at the top table of football in Wales. I want to also thank our previous management teams who have served the Club so, Barry and Rhodri Jones and Leighton Reynolds in particular who did an outstanding job serving the club for many seasons. It has been a long time without football at the Club and everybody is looking forward to seeing the Magpies take the field again at Cae Piod
