Managers Profile.

I’ve been with the club since 2012 as a player and I took over as manager in 2017 after Sion Tudor left to join Porthmadog. Before joining Llan i had 10 really enjoyable years with Bala I was part of the reserve side for most of my time at Bala with the odd appearance for the first team. we had a really good team back then and won everything there was to win! We won the old division 1 and 2 both league cups and we’re the first team to win the wrexham area reserve division. I was also part of the squad that won the league cup back in 2016 with Llanuwchllyn. Not the most glittering playing career but a very enjoyable one!

My Thoughts on the new signings.

I’m really pleased with the signings we have made this season, some have played for the club before and two or three are new to the club and I can’t wait to see them in a Llan shirt as soon as we can. The signings we have brought in will no doubt strengthen our squad and bring a lot of experience, quality and hopefully goals, but mainly they are great lads who really want to give there all to the club.

Title Favourites.

It’s hard to say who I think will be challenging for the league this season because it’s a new league with teams we haven’t really come against in a competitive match before but from what I’ve seen and heard I’m sure Porthmadog, Denbigh and Rhostyllen will be up there, we have played Rhostyllen many times over the years and having played with and managed Warren two seasons ago and know how he operates there’s no doubt he will have them challenging the teams at the top. But saying that there is a league full of big clubs and I have no doubt that every team will have high hopes of challenging. I’m sure it will be an exciting league once it can start.

Thoughts on the restructure of the pyramid.

I think it is a really positive and exciting move by the FAW. It’s definitely raised the standards and profile of the smaller clubs. It got a bit stale in my opinion over the last few years visiting the same clubs and having no fresh challenges, but know it’s a complete new league with new teams from different areas of north Wales and I’m looking forward to visiting all the new grounds.

Ambitions for the season.

Our ambitions as a club on and off the field is always to improve and I do believe over the last 6 months we really have improved, I’d like to think we could be able to have a top half Finnish in our first season in the new league and a good cup run is always a bonus if there will be  any cup matches this season that is.

Teams to watch out for.

Like I said in a previous question it’s hard to say who are the teams to watch out for and who will be challenging but the obvious choices have to be Porthmadog and Denbigh although having played in the wrexham area for many years Mold Alex are always a really good team and they I’m sure will surprise a few! I also think teams like Llanrwst and Nantlle Vale will be dark horses and a tough game for anyone on their day!

Lockdown/Covid-19

The last 9 months have been really frustrating and difficult with no football, our last competitive game was back in Feb! The initial lockdown in March was tough on the lads with football stopping altogether. To be fair to all players they kept themselves ticking over and doing their own fitness which was easy to see in the first session back once the restrictions were eased. Once we got back to training in July it was different because we had to train in small groups of six.The squads efforts over these difficult times has been fantastic We have had a couple of friendlies under the new guidelines, and they were really positive, But with the new local lockdowns a few lads couldn’t train or play in our friendlies which was really frustrating. But know We hope we can get back playing games on a Saturday afternoon as soon as possible when it’s safe to do so.

Anything else to add.

Everyone at CPD Llanuwchllyn can’t wait to get going again and visit old and new grounds and welcome everyone to our ground which has had massive improvements and developments done to it! It’s a complete new ground and has had thousands spent on it, thanks to all the hard-working committee for all the efforts they put in. #ymlaen.
